*note about botanical nomenclature: You may be aware that the formal method of naming is with an italicized binomial, a two part name which is the combination of the genus and the specific epithet. You will see on this website that in many instances, including in the blog entry titles, I have not italicized the name properly. Well, that’s because I am using a blogging tool which doesn’t allow me to italicize titles. So if you happen to be my teacher, please understand that I do indeed know the proper way to write botanical names, I’m just not a programmer – too bad for me.
